Little Riya Returns Home After Successful Heart Surgery

We are overjoyed to share that Riya Sharma, the five-year-old girl from Patna whose campaign captured the hearts of thousands across India, has undergone a successful open-heart surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi. Riya, who was born with a ventricular septal defect (VSD), is now recovering at home with her family.

"When we first launched Riya's campaign, her parents had almost lost hope," recalled our Campaign Coordinator, Divya Bhatt. "Within three weeks, over 480 people had donated, and the full amount was raised. Seeing Riya smile today is the reason we do what we do."

Riya's mother, Savita Sharma, was emotional when she spoke to our team: "Hum kabhi soch bhi nahi sakte the ki itne log hamare Riya ke liye aage aayenge. Affinity Humans aur sabhi donors ka teh dil se shukriya." (We could never have imagined that so many people would come forward for our Riya. Heartfelt thanks to Affinity Humans and all donors.)
